Concerts

Korn June 11th, 2007 / Jäähalli, Helsinki

This gig did for me the same as I could imagine ten years of intensive therapy would with medication. The band was amazing and I loved the gig. The place wasn’t sold out so there was no feeling of being over crowded or people jumping at you constantly. This one young gentleman did comment on us being non fans since we weren’t jumping around but considering that I was there with my little sister and best friend who gave birth few months earlier I didn’t see the point of bruising her up more. But other than that I enjoyed my time 100% and that might be why I am going again when the band comes back on February 2008.

Marilyn Manson December 20th, 2007 / Jäähalli, Helsinki

The concert was quite short and we spent a lot of time waiting for the man to appear. The gig was booked to the last seat and with my luck I got some mental patient with a piercing voice sitting few seats back and she just kept screaming, not your normal I’m in 7th heaven scream, but this I’m a wounded animal with major mental problems and this is the way I communicate. Without that thing yelping I think I might have been able to enjoy it much more but it’s hard to hear anything… Damn I should have slapped that creature. Anyways, I was little scared that MM would only play songs from his new album (not that they are bad they are just more ballad type compared to his previous works) but he did not disappoint us. He started with If I was Your Vampire and ended with Antichrist Superstar, and everything in between was solid gold. The show was very visual and if you weren’t there you’ll never completely understand what you missed. My company for this one was my little sister (the older of the two, who always companies me to concerts) who understands my music taste and my mom who experienced her 2nd concert of her life, first being Back Street Boys… Well she didn’t say she hated it but she prefers to listen to the songs on her mp3 player.

Korn February 9th, 2008 / Jäähalli, Tampere

I went to the concert with high expectations of hearing aggressive music and feeling the anger melting away but it wasn’t in the program this time. Instead we heard the more mature version of Korn which I can only guess didn’t please everyone but I did enjoy it. It wasn’t the same as the previous but it wasn’t bad either, it was different. This time me and my sis had tickets for the floor and we were just few meters away from the stage and this time… we jumped around like madmen and I loved it. If and when the band comes back to our little cold country I will be there again… I just hope that they come to Helsinki since the trip up to Tampere was ok but coming back… Let’s just say that fog is less dangerous looking through a window from a train and not your car’s windshield.
